In the 4 lesson in Syntesis dialogue you write 小明：我的中国名字叫王小明。我是王同学。Is this 同学 means classmates? You translate it in dialogue "student". Why do we not use 学生?

同学 has two meanings :
1 - as a noun it means "classmate" : 他是我的同学。 He is my classmate.
2 - as a title (like "sir", "Miss") it means "student". 我是王同学。I am student Wang.
学生 means "student" as a noun. It cannot be used as a title.
