Methodology

This exercise lets you analyse your intonation against a recording. The tone is deliberately exaggerated in order to train your pronunciation.

Choose a tone from the cards below by clicking on it. Listen to the Chinese speaker, then record yourself with the card on the right.
You can then listen back to yourself and analyse your tone pronunciation compared with the Chinese speaker.

Careful : this exercise only assesses intonation (the tone of the syllable), not the sound (the "ma").
